CCATS Agility Flyer. Have a look. It is cute!

posted Jul 27, 2010 5:23 PM by Canterbury CATS

CCATS have a cute new flyer for the club. We would appreciate it if people could print it out and place it in places such as your local vet, shop or workplace. If you are not training we would still appreciate your effort.

There will be some coloured flyers available soon in the club house in a couple of weeks. Feel free to take some for distribution.

Cheers, Sandra

(You can also download the flyer from our website at: http://www.ccats.co.nz/newsletters/2010-07agilityflyer.doc)

More new regulations starting 1-July-2010

posted Jun 13, 2010 5:48 AM by Canterbury CATS   [ updated Jun 13, 2010 6:11 AM ]

The big news is the addition of the micro size category; general reshuffling of sizes and jump heights; and the possibility of "split" competitions if enough dogs compete in each size category (see New height divisions to take effect 1 July 2010). Some other changes include:
  • Displacing the hoop (tyre) is now a fault.

  • Elementary B (new handlers & dogs) now officially has no weaves but Elementary A (experienced handler but new dog) must include 6 weaves. Also, competitors winning out of Elementary B may now choose to progress to Elementary A.

  • Judges may now set different standard course times for each height category in a split competition.

New height divisions to take effect 1 July 2010

(See also: More new regulations starting 1-July-2010 for additional changes.) The new micro class and increased maximum heights for the other size classes are set to start in July 2010! The Agility Committee believes that the new size classes will be more equitable for all dogs and will remove safety concerns with the current hurdle heights.

In addition, competitions will be split if each group: Micro + Mini, Midi, and Maxi has at least 15 dogs (micro and mini will also be split if they have at least 15 dogs each). Everyone will still run the same course but prizes will be awarded within each size group.
Any dog moving down a class because of the new rules will need to be remeasured!

[update: Official notice: 30 November 2009, not quite the same as the unofficial notice]

New regulations will come into effect 1st of January 2010. Of the more substantial changes:
1. Deletion of the table as a standard obstacle for standard agility classes. It remains an approved obstacle for games however.
2. Major changes to the Judges Panels, including a new ribbon trial panel, i.e. ribbon trial judges must now be certified.
3. AD and ADX certificates can be signed by the judge and the show secretary or an officer appointed by the show committee.

The complete list of changes can be found at the the NZKC Agility website. This document can also be accessed from their Regulations page. Full regulations will be updated eventually.
