New Regulations Starting 1 Jan 2012!

posted Dec 12, 2011 3:08 PM by Canterbury CATS   [ updated Dec 12, 2011 3:13 PM ]

Several new regulations come into effect in the New Year:

1. The "big one" is that any handler interaction with equipment is now a fault:
Handlers cannot touch any equipment (either deliberately or accidentally), jump/step over any ramps, tunnels (chute) etc, or they will be faulted. No part of the handler’s body will be able to pass through the weaves at any time.‬ Handlers must go around all equipment. There will be no exceptions.

2. AD and ADX courses run as part of a Ribbon Trial no longer will require advance registration.

3. It will (eventually?) be possible to register for Champ Shows online.

4. There are a few more technical changes. Please see: http://www.dogagility.org.nz/regulations.html for more details.

Link Competition News

posted Mar 8, 2011 1:43 PM by Canterbury CATS   [ updated Mar 8, 2011 3:46 PM ]

It's time to register for the new link competition year and there are some new things to notice.

Fees have changed this year and there is now a new online-delivery option for only $16/year.

The digital edition of the monthly magazine can be downloaded from the NALA website.  See our Link Competition page for access details as well as for the new registration form.

What's your number?!

posted Feb 10, 2011 1:49 AM by Canterbury CATS

If you applied for a permanent number, you can now look it up at http://www.dogagility.org.nz/register/MasterRegister.pdf

These numbers will go in effect starting April 1, 2011. To use your number just write it in the "No." box in the upper-right corner of the registration form.

(For those wondering:
The first letter indicates the year the dog was born, starting at A = 2000, B = 2001, etc.
    The first digit indicates height:
        Micro: 0
        Mini: 1
        Midi: 2,3,4,5
        Maxi: 6,7,8,9)
I guess they're not expecting more than 100 micros or minis per year!

Santa Parade (4-Dec) details

posted Nov 3, 2010 2:25 AM by Canterbury CATS

New Brighton Santa Parade and display Sat 4th December
Parade sets off 10.30am from Marine Parade, opposite the New Brighton Workingmen's Club.
All levels of dogs and non sporting dog such as your rug rats or lounge lizards can join in. The more the merrier. It is great fun, people just love seeing the dogs. You are very welcome to dress up your dog and wear Xmas attire yourself. We need the agility dogs to stay after the parade and give a short display near the basketball court the clock tower end.
Please wear your club uniform or our club colours royal blue or navy and white and a bit of tinsel. Hope to see you there

More details from the organizers:
The Parade will take place wet or fine. There is no cancellation date. In the event of extreme weather, cancellations will be posted on the Project Answer phone (3889920) and on Newstalk ZB (1098 AM).

The Parade sets off from Marine Parade, opposite the New Brighton Club, at 10.30am. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish.

Road closures are set up at 10am. If your vehicle is part of the Parade, please assemble along Marine Parade by 10am.

If you are a walking party, you can meet with your group in the carpark of the NB Club, or on the grass area between the Library and Whale Park.

Apart from the beginning and end, there is no set order for the Parade.

Whilst parading, Please keep to a reasonably slow pace, so that people have time to appreciate you as you go by!

DO NOT THROW LOLLIES OR ANY GIVEAWAYS ONTO TO THE ROAD!

This is our main rule: it is very important that children are not encouraged to run onto the road where there are moving vehicles.

If you want to give anything away, please walk close to the crowd and hand things out.

At the end of the Parade, please drive off down Beresford St or Oram Ave (preferred) taking care to watch out for pedestrians crossing Marine Parade. This is particularly important this year, as there is entertainment in the basketball court immediately after the parade, and people will not be expecting traffic at that point.

ORDER OF EVENTS.

CCATS member Cheryl Kilpatrick wrote a delightful article about agility and her Norwich Terrier for this month's NZ Dog World. We've uploaded a digital copy to our Library page (you can view it online or download it to your computer).

(Note: although uncredited in the printed article, the title photo and weaving photo were by Steve de Haan.)
